tinytawnykitten
Last night I fed my grow out tank some flake and I don't know whether I overfed or what but this morning the water was super cloudy and all but 4 fish were dead. I lost 8 electric yellows, 12 demasoni, 4 julies, 4 dolphins and 4 lumpheads. Gutted :-( All these were fish I got from Mel a while ago. Does anyone have any fry of these fish for sale? GZ_Loach
You would know if you over fed, are you sure the filter didn't conk out or if there was already a dead fish?
henward
did you test the water and do a post disaster review? if the filter was running and you did not feed over a normal amount, should not spike. even if you fed slightly more than usual, it shouldnt spike so much that everything is dead but 4! i guess, it comes to volume of water filter configuration stocking and size of fish. Kinbote
That totally sucks. Wouldn't be ammonia, though; ammonia's a byproduct of organic decay, so overfeeding's not going to give you a spike high enough to immediately kill fishes in a 24 hour period. It'd take days for ammonia to be formed from overfeeding, and then most likely days for the fishes to die after that. What are your parameters now? tinytawnykitten
I will check my parameters as soon as I can. A friend has my test kit so I will get it back this weekend.
