Funkytown
Someone suggested to me to concentrate on finding cheap plants that suit my tank conditions, as opposed to trying to find the right food to feed plants that don't really like it in there, as plants are often cheaper than plant food. This might be the most cost-effective way to go. I'm amazed at the amount of growth I'm getting out of some of my cheapy plants in a newish tank with no suplemental food or CO2! In about 10 days I've got well over an inch (2,3!?) of growth on all the "branches" of a couple of my plants! Maybe the plants are burning up reserves in an effort to reach new food sources (I don't know plant biology), but I'm impressed nonetheless. Maybe it's because I sing to them... Brian [Edit]

FoolsGold
I made up some "Poor Mans Dupla Drops" and it (seemed to) work very well with my heavily planted tank. A quick search on google should give you the recipe. I think I have enough ingredients to last the rest of my life and it cost about $10 all up FG
DiverJohn
Hey fools gold... Where did you get the ingredients? Just from the Chemist? Would really like to give this PMDD a go I ahev read some good reports.

FoolsGold
Diverjohn, I picked up some from bulk bin store, others from a specialist hydroponics shop. i think they are all pretty common. Sorry i cant be more specific... FG
DiverJohn
Thanks FG. Tried getting some info from "one particular hydroponics store" but they werent to much help. might try asking specifically for the ingredients. Cheers
