Samba2641
Hey! I recently got some crypts and stargrass for my 15G tank and was wondering what sort of light I should put in for a decent price? Its just sand bottom so I'm not expecting huge growth, will look into getting feeder tabs in the future . Thanks, Sam
supasi
Firstly tell us a bit about the tank. IE dimensions, current lighting. Crypts will survive in quite low light situations but stargrass is a bit more demanding of light. What sort of Crypt is it?
Samba2641
Tank stats are as follows: natural/small led desklight (not sure what wattage) sand substrate no co2/fertilizer 60cm by 31cm by 30cm, 60L It's C. wendtii (green) Cheers, Sam
supasi
So with that sized tank you could get away with a single T8 15w tube. Even better would be a double tube fitting of the same size. The stargrass may not do its best with that sort of lighting but definately the crypts would be fine. Here are some examples (these links are for reference only, I have no idea who the sellers are nor do I care(just keeping mods happy :cofn: )) http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pets-animals/Fish/Lights-lamps/auction-372360110.htm or single tube like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pets-animals/Fish/Lights-lamps/auction-372076088.htm and here is a link to my thread about a low light tank I set up to show what can be done with the lights I suggested above. This tank is still going strong although it is in need of some loving attention at the moment. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=50880
alanmin4304
The stargrass will go black at the base if there is not enough light.
