Insect Direct
true, it some times grows like a pine tree if that what you mean. wouldnt be surprised if ive got java moss mixed with it, thats what i thought it was more likely to be as ive only ever had a little bit of xmas moss in tha past and im not sure where they went. phoenix44
The structure of the 'leaves' or rather moss. Java doesn't have that particular structure, and xmas does.

Insect Direct
 reason i thought java moss is when grown submersed (low light here) it has very little structure at all.
waterlogged
My java moss gets the occational frill, but it is deff not xmas as that is a thinner plant. got the two next to each other lol
Insect Direct
Looks like riccia also just been googling, seems it is found grown emersed in the wild i sense a moss and riccia tank coming on the cricket aka xmas moss is a great substrate for frogs, so easy to grow.
