aquariumbeginner32
Okay so as you can see I know nothing lol Can you use boiled tap water, cooled down of course to room temp, to fill a fish tank? Is that good? To get rid of bad chemicals like nitrate etc?
Zayne
I would think it would get rid of some of the stuff in the water, if your meant to boil water for humans for 3 minutes i would hope so
Josh_S
Boiling will remove chlorine but wont remove nitrates. I would just use a 'water ager' such as prime, if you buy a big bottle it works out very cheap. And is alot quicker than boiling water and waiting for it to cool. Doesn't do anything for any kind of chemicals that might be in it except for dissolved gasses.
Caryl
Boiling the water is unneccessary and added work.
Stella
There shouldn't be nitrate in your tap water.... Humans boil suspect water to kill microorganisms that could make us sick, it won't remove chemicals of interest to fishkeepers.
ryanjury
I just use water from the hose.. It is usually recommended to use a dechlorinator just in case though
