phoenix44
Who here apart from me uses these? I think they are the best bit of over priced bits of plastic on the planet. I hate the price with a vengeance, but it's infinitely better than the stock green.
the-obstacle
What are they?
Joshlikesfish
You told me they were expansion kits? haha
phoenix44
Meant installation sets. http://www.marinedepot.com/filters_ehei ... on-ap.html EHEIM Installation Set 1 improves the suction effect through its piping that creates a current-like flow and the compact overflow arc that is fitted with a practical quick release coupling. At the same time, the set can be used as a suction aid for external filters that have a shut-off device in the suction area. Otherwise an additional shut-off valve is installed there. In addition, the opening with a closing cap in the overflow arc can be used to clean pipes and hoses conveniently. In the flow area Installation Set 2 ensures optimum pressure conditions with variable installation options. The water outlet can be adapted to the aquarium dimensions by means of the plug-in nozzle tubes, the hoses can be connected safely thanks to the quick release coupling, and the set can be easily cleaned via the closing cap on the overflow arc. A separate nozzle set including an elbow and three different attachments as a wide jet, outlet or adapter for connecting a diffusor is also available as an accessory. the-obstacle
Ahh, I've seen these in your tank photos and wondered what they are. Cool. Is there a source for them in NZ?
phoenix44
Yeah, you can order them through any fish shop / pet shop. The eheim importer is massive and usually has everything. I have a number of them but needed just the intake bit of the installation set 1. Then my salvaged pro II will be complete! Eheim parts are an absolute killer! sooo good though. Feel happy just looking at it.
the-obstacle
Do they perform better than the standard green setups or is it just for looks? I agree they look heaps better, especially in tanks with darker backing, just wondering if it's a must have upgrade.
phoenix44
It's not a must have really. I mean you pay good money for the standard stuff. But it is slightly better - When you turn the filter off you have this little cap thing you can open and prod things down if you see the need to clean the pipes, the input and output nozzles are thicker so they don't obstruct flow as much. They are not green -.- I like the spray bar in particular. It's modular so you can individually control the spray direction for each segment of the spray bar. It also has EHEIM written on it
the-obstacle
It also has EHEIM written on it  hahaha, fanboy alert! Sounds good though - I've been considering the glass ones from a well known overseas supplier but would prefer a spray bar than that funny breast milk suction cup shape. Then again, I thought I'd hate the green parts but they're growing on me.

phoenix44
They are definitely still being made. May I ask how much they cost you?
dcase
Around $50 per set ... I got them as I wanted more flexible options for positioning the intake & outlets
phoenix44
Great! Thanks. They are great eh! And they fit brilliantly with the bracing I have on my tank.
