blueyes
What is the tall plant at each end of this tank, and is it available in New Zealand? Thanks in advance
SamH
Val. And yes, it is.
blueyes
Cool, thanks....I really like how it is growing across the surface of the water, thought it might be a cool way to provide shelter for those fishies that prefer the darker corners of the tank..... Ira
Val. And yes, it is. Depends on who you ask and where you are it might be a banned plant.
phoenix44
As long as you are living in New Zealand, that particular plant is banned no matter what region you live in. It is available, but it is technically illegal.
SamH
Just go for the twisted variant instead.
blueyes
Okay.....so find plan B then.... thanks guys...... the twisted variant isn't illegal then? Would it grow across the top of the tank like this one? Thanks.
SamH
As far as I know, twisted Val is legal. Acts much the same as the straight kind.
Stella
It may be useful to know the full name: Valisneria

alanmin4304
As far as I am aware there are two twisted types available and they do go under different names sometimes. Vallisneria torta is the wider and shorter leafed variety and contortionist is the taller, narrow leafed variety. Both are legal, have more briddle leaves than the straight varieties and do not tolerate flourish excel.
