Tank placement question.

So I'm getting my tank and stand in the weekend :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

(Juwel Rio 180) and I want to put in my dining room against a wall between 2 windows, and my question is : do you put a tank and stand right up against the wall or leave a bit of a gap? and if so how much gap?

Because I know once its there it will be impossible to move.

I leave a gap so you can run cords and external filter pipes and stuff down the back.. It is also helpful to leave enough of a gap to get things that fall down behind it out!

Also be careful having your tank around windows too much light will cause algae problems.

Enough of a gap for any hoses, wires etc to pass down behind it.

as it is in your dining room allow enough room to also get the hoover down the back to

wide enough so that a power plug can get through.

Very annoying if you want to decommission something and can't get the plug out.... :roll:

What is a carpet fitting?

I have a wooden floor where its going. There is a double power point right beside where I want to put it 8)

but the hose is miles away :-?

No idea what carpet fitting is really called... but I mean the little bit of wood with nails in it that go on the edges of the carpet to hold it in place.

However far out you think the tank should be from the wall, add 1/2 again. So if you want it 10cm out from the wall, add an extra 5cm for unexpected things - you'll always need it.
