henward
ok how big does a discus after 18 months? i mean, they cannot be full grown. many say that discus dont fully mature and grow to their full potential untill 2.5 to 3 years. 18 months means they are just young adults? is this right? some mroe size to put on? any facts about this? Bilbo
At 18 months they are more or less full grown. You might get a tiny bit more but most likely they are as big as they are going to get. Discus are unusual in that they are one of the few fish that don't continue to grow throughout their lives.

Adrienne
IMO 12cm is a good size for a discus. I have seen them up to 15cm.

henward
cool found an awesome pair! i havent seen manyh around so hopefully i will be one of the first to breed them:D im gonna breed it and see how i go lol but i wanna make sure that theya re old enough and not too young. i guess like reptiles, maybe too young can harm the fish or they may not make suck viable and strong babies? dont know but i read that the pair should be 2 to 2.5 years old to breed properly? maybe its wrong. but good to start them fat and thick and strong and healthy anyways:D
Flosty
Best of luck with the pair you have found,Are they a nice pair?strain? Females mature quicker,I have had them laying at 7 months, males generally take longer to be fertile,12 months + Females growth will be strongly inhibited if you let them spawn to young and small Once they carry fry there growth all but stops, very hard to stop them from spawning though once they start Only way is to separate sexes even then 2 females will still lay eggs together. So you potentially could have a viable pair at 12 months+ of age but generally it takes them a few attempts to get it right,if they ever
henward
i think they are cool, havent seen many around. i found a pair of snow leopards or aka white leopards. very nice pair. babies derived from them will be approx 50% snow leopard, 25% leopard and 25% snow whites according to their genetics as to how they were bred. so all in all the babies should look interesting lol, the snow leopard is hetero genetics im told. so if i can get them to breed, would be awesome! firenzenz
I have seen quite a few discus and i would say in good condition hey will grow to about 2-3 yrs, then as frost has said they put on a bit more weight. I wouldn't be as concerned by size of parents if they are breeders. They key to getting the best out of Discus as adults is the regime you intend to have with raising the young.
