JazzyJeff
I have been looking at the Sera Products - namely the CO2 Starter pak. This has a little plastic chamber which is submersed in your tank, that you drop a tablet into every 2nd - 3rd day. Also in this pak there are some tablets to push under the gravel on alternate weeks (I think) These are fert tabs. Has anyone had experience with this products and is it effective. Thanks
phoenix44
won't DIY CO2 be more effective, or cheaper and equally effective over a longer time span?
Morcs
ive used the sera system. didnt notice any change in plant growth. Tablets dont dissolve very well and you end up with 2mm sized white chunks sitting on your gravel of which then the fish eat.
Caryl
And were the fish then more fertile?
JazzyJeff
hmmmm... not looking so good then? I thought that they looked like less hassle than my DIY with nano diffuser. I have noticed a significant improvement in my plant growth with the DIY but I am replacing the sugar/yeast mixture every 10 days or so. My glosso is carpeting slowly, the dwarf sag is going crazy and the red tiger lotus has really taken off. BUT I wrecked my diffuser (the gook from the bottle went up the tubing and is stuck in the diffuser. Anyone got any ideas how I can make the mixture last longer or am I expecting too much? Then dry in a slightly warm oven until no more moisture can be seen. As for the mixture, I use DIY on some small tanks and I let it run for a month. Sure the amount of CO2 goes down but it is very gradual. If you want it to slow down, you can add bicarb. But really it is only the cost of 2 cups of sugar - chips really. Jennifer
2 cups sugar, 1 tsp active yeast granules, a smear of other nutrient (I use Marmite). Dissolve in 2 L of warm water.
