phoenix44
buy smaller quantities man... your discus will not go through food like your predators.
henward
doesnt expire for ages though. thought might as well buy best value for money? but yeah, i realise wit their small mouth, they are not cut out to eat big:D
phoenix44
i use the aro pellets eh. break them into 3 pieces, and the fish LOVE them. colourbits and meat is really good too. colouribits can be considered a staple diet. some fish don't eat it immediately too. henward
ok, i might just get colour bits. hikari too expensive. but if you work it out by kilo, colour bits is only 30 dollars cheaper per kilo. nutrafin is most expensive, jbl is same as colour bits. miht get colour bits and aro pellets. bdspider
Even though it doesn't expire for ages if sealed, it loses nutritional value faster once opened. I remember a store owner here talking about what the supplier had told him about it.
phoenix44
Here's a tip. I went to wet pets the other day (only place in palmy with JBL foods) and saw some very fancy looking discus food in a silver bottle for $30. sitting next to that was another discus food for $12.xx and when i read the nutritional info, the contents and the analysis, there was absolutely no difference. the only difference was the packaging. even the pellets are the same. And I think I may have got more of the food for the cheaper price. This food is in a yellow and green bottle with a little food dispenser at the top. It also seems really good. ryanjury
I would give the shanda stuff a go Maybe even ask the seller if you can buy a smaller amount to sample it and see if you like it before buying a larger amount. I have found that food for discus is very much a marketing type thing, for example the NLS discus formula has the same ingredients as the cichlid formula but is more expensive and people buy it for their discus cuz it has a picture of one of the front Unfortunately we don't have NLS easily available in NZ
henward
yeah, i think i might just go tetra. a 300 gram jar lasts ages!
