livebearer_breeder
alright, i am building a divider (woopee :-? ) so far i have cut the frame to size, and have the stuff for the inside of the frame, but my delima is this, I have finished all my Silicon and now have nothing to put it together. my question is this? I have some stuff called liquid nails would this work? and is it safe for fish? as it says nothing about glass or tanks on the pottle, or could i use hot glue? would this be safe to fish? Cheers Shae
Caryl
Not sure if they would be safe to use. What is the divider made out of? Could the netting be stapled to the frame? Freshwater only of course. Or stitched.
Lucid
I think you will find that the liquid nails has solvents in it which will leech out into the water, not sure about the hot melt glue tho. If you get desperate I have silicone here that you can use to finish it. B
livebearer_breeder
Thanks steve but i think i might stitch it, thanks for that Caryl, staples would rust though! the frame is made of plastic, my only problem now is sticking the frame together. spooky
Get some more silicon. You'll use the rest later. I wouldn't trust any glue really, all expel "stuff". In my line of work we worry about the gasses they let off (not from a toxicity point of view though) and they let off a lot, even once they are dry. Toxins into water: I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. From an economic point of view: how many fish have to die until it equals a tube of silicon ? Not a lot, go figure. cees
...the frame is made of plastic... Shae 250 what kind of plastic. pvc-glue like the stuff used for rain-gutters and downpipes will stick your frame together. hotglue should be fine as well. To attach the netting to the plastic frame use a soldering iron and (spot-)melt it in. Works great, been there, done that. :-) (try on a piece of scrap plastic first)
