Adrienne
My hair algae is directly linked to the amount of time my t5HO lights are on. The only way I am keeping it in check is to pick it off every day
Ymir
if it's hairy just use a Schick disposable blade or if it is really bad, wax!!!
breakaway
Another update - the plants I bleached now have algae growing on them again Added an extra 78W of T5HO lighting. Also renewed my CO² mixture recently, and plants are pearling like there's no tomorrow. Stargrass is even starting to flower: As you can see the algae is still pretty bad :-? Jennifer
Looks like one of the filamentous algae like Oedogonium. Its all that light (believe me, I have been there!). You need to starve that algae. More water changes (small amounts daily if you can). Cut back on all nutritional sources (ferts, food etc.). Remove what you can. breakaway
I've already gone from dosing 4mL flourish every 3rd day to 2mL every 3rd day. Will go to 1.5mL every 3rd day, reduce lighting by an hour, and 10L water change every day and see if it makes a difference.
