Hate to hijack the thread, but it seems relevant:

My glosso seems to be growing quickly/thickly, but also 'up'.

I read that this can be caused by not enough CO2 for light strength. I have four cheap 40w lights over a 120l (40cm) deep tank and use two DIY CO2 mixes.

Should I switch one of the lights off?

Cheers :)

I think you will find it will need more light to grow across the substrate.

It is growing up to get closer to the light.

I thought it grew upwards due to lack of light...

how bright is it at the bottom of the tank?

Are they T5/8 tubes?, Age, and what do you mean by cheap 40w lights? any ferts/ect?

T8. Cheap tubes froms Corys. Dosing Flourish (~1.2ml three times a week - thinking of increasing this). Planted into flourite.

Thanks for the replies guys - obviously I had heard some misinformation - I will switch the fourth back on.

Cheers!
