si_sphinx
Pet shop thinks they are the same plant but one clearly looks like a grass and the other is a long leaf. I'm wanting to make a carpet out of it as long as it doesn't get too tall. it is currently at 5cm tall
alanmin4304
The one on the left looks like Sagittaria subulata and the one on the right may be also but my guess would be Lilaeopsis. The same plant can grow differently in different conditions. Sagittaria subulata can grow to 500-600mm tall in the right conditions. Both plants are pretty rootbound which will be stunting the growth rate.

Carlos & Siran
We have both those and they were both sold to us as chain sword grass, I planted some in the front of our new 850 yesterday and I noticed the differences.

si_sphinx
Thanks guys. I didn't know what it was and lps called it something starting with 's' but it wasn't Sagittaria subulata so i like to check with other people that have it first before labeling it. even I  can tell that they are not the same plant and thats saying something lol its obvious isnt it. they have been in the same tank beside each other for a week. Ive seen something similar in a tropheus setup and the fish kept it neatly mown(don't know where they kept their lawn mowers, they must do it at night  ) so thought i might try this out. im going to propagate it throughout the tank and let it settle in for a few weeks before i add the tropheus. hopefully it will have enough time to root in so the fish can't pull it out. alanmin4304
They can look a bit different when grown emersed or submersed. They are grown emersed commercially but if in the shop for a while can start to take up the submersed form. They could be both be Lilaepsis, but I don't think chain sword (Echinodorus sp.)
