Indian Fern/Water Sprite= Ceratopteris thalictroides

Water Fern = Azolla? (The one listed as water fern on TM isn't Azolla Sp.)

Water Wistera = Hygrophila difformis

HTH Google IS your friend  8)

Yep I know google is but all the pics look the same on the auction site and I wanted something similar to the one I have (don't know which it is though).

Thanks guys. I've seen the other one that looks like red pine and it is very similar although not the same. Animates has both in the tank side by side and you can see the difference.

Hey Phoenix - the sword you sent me has thrown out a shoot thats about 20cm long - grown that much in about 3 days! It looks the same as the other big sword I have in my plant which has a shoot at just over 60cm atm.

I've currently got the loan of a T5HO double light fitting and thats been running on the tank for about 3 weeks with about 5 days turned off in the middle of this time (my holiday lol) and in about another week I will be running 2 T5HO double fittings on the tank permanently. The lighting is starting to definitely improve the growth rate of my plants and the red ones are finally becoming redder.

I don't mind the big swords and a couple will shelter the discus from the high lighting which will keep them happy.

Last year I just cut the new shoots off and planted some and gave the others away to forum members. My other big sword is one of these ones so will most likely do the same this year.

There is a discussion over what it is. Green pine is Mayaca fluviatalis and some claim red pine is another variety of Mayaca and others that it is Rotala wallichii. I have bought Rotala wallichii on a number of occasions, converted it to emersed growth and flowered it and it has the same leaf and flower as Rotala rotundifolia. I am waiting for someone to flower red pine and see what they get. R. wallichii has a white flower. You pays your money and takes your pick.

I have seen the R. wallichii and mine is different to that. Its 'leaves' are not as fine and wispy as the wallichii. How would I go about 'flowering' it?
