axolotl-danio
Me and my dad have been working on this and we finished it today. It is multilevel 210cm long and 82cm wide. Today we bought our first female guinea pig and are planning on getting more soon as they prefer to be in groups. Does anyone with guinea pig experience know how many female guinea pigs I can have in this sized hutch? I do volunteer work at the local spca so I am planning to adopt from there when available. Thanks
Carlos & Siran
That's awesome dude, love the multi level, I should imagine you could have at least 4 or 5 sows a hutch that size, at a guess, though I'm sure there must be a "so many square ft per animal rule" I once made one with a large chemical drum, cut it down the middle long ways, stuck the two halves together, cut windows and a door, then wire meshed it. Unfortunately it was black plastic and they over heated in summer, had to put it under the trees all the time.
axolotl-danio
All the wood and metal were free we only had to pay for screws, nails, mesh and hinges. The total cost was around $

Adrienne
You have to be careful getting a boy as the female needs to be pretty young when she has her first litter otherwise there are problems and you will most probably lose her. OR she'll never breed at all... like the one I used to have. 4 years and they never had babies
axolotl-danio
Get a boy! Then you can have babies! I did think about it because the pet shop owner said that they don't get enough in and would buy them off me but it seems kind of wrong because there are often some at the spca. Thats because most of the ones the pet shops sell are the pet of the month or two for children, then they don't want them and they end up at the SPCA unfortunately!
