Floater
I have two fish that were sold to me as Blue Rams. Do you think they are blue rams? Also what gender? Fish One: This one seems to resemble a female blue ram (pink bellie) but the dorsal fin is pointed at the end instead of rounded...? Fish Two: This one has a lot less black on it... and it has the pointed dosal fin (indicative of a male right?) Wondering if it might be a golden ram x blue ram? A-town...
yes both blue rams and appear to be males. I have seen blue rams without the black coulouring before. can change with their moods
Guest
I say number one is a female as it has blue speckles in it's black dot and a more rounded anal fin also she has a pink belly and it may just be the pic but it seems to have the little stick thing that she lays her eggs out which is wider than what the males is. Pic 2 I would say it's a male as it has a a smaller little pimple thing which he uses to fertilise the eggs and it isn't as wide as the females but without his black dot showing and his dorsal fin up t's hard to tell. Whiskas
agree the second one could be a cross of colours but he still pretty Breed them and maybe you will get a throw back???

Adrienne
so is it a blue ram? or a cross
Floater
the second one is from the most recent wholesale batch from 1 supplier. I bought them both about a year ago from the same tank. I'm pretty sure they are both males. Haven't had any spawnings and my sister had some and they went nuts in our rain water. I copied her conditions and everything to the T but no luck. Also the finnage really leads me to believe they're both males.
phoenix44
blue ram, not a cross.
Guest
number ones a female. I'm 99% sure. What else is in the tank? To get them to breed all you need to do is feed lots of blo0d worms and flake for 7 days. Then do a 20 - 25% cool water change and in a few days the should breed. antwan
I don't really trust finnage when it comes to blue rams, I just go by the pink belly. Maybe there's something wrong with the male? Here's what my old male and female used to look like: Male Female
antwan
Sorry, I didn't read your first post very well but I think you might be right in saying it's a cross between a gold and blue ram. That shouldn't stop them from breeding though..
Floater
Yeah it's always possible that one of them is infertile, if not both. Those are some nice looking fish you have there!
