Brennos
I went down to Hollywood Fish farm today to get a couple test kits, and while I was there, I purchased some new plants, and a tank background, and a bottle of Flourish excel. So after everything had settled, I decided to take some pictures of my tank as it stands today. I added a new piece of driftwood, and some Ambulia (thanks gills) and some new plants (the crimson ones), but am unsure of what they are. The grass like plant at the back is a few months old, but doesn't seem to be doing so well, so hopefully the flourish works, and perks it up a bit. The inhabitants are 4 female guppies and 1 male, and 2 Bristle-noses. The stone is Schist, from Stone & Water World in Ellerslie, and looks awesome in my opinion. I have tried to go for the most natural look, as I am over the fake plants, gravel and ornaments. So what do you think? Potential improvements? oO SKIPPY Oo
+1 for hiding the heater - that looks like a small tank with an oversized heater - is it ?
N1CK
I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out... I keep looking at it now... lol the crimson plant looks like a species of Hygropilia, you might want to move it back a bit as it grows quite tall
Adrienne
Hi, it looks very nice. What sized tank is it? I would also hide the heater but I know its not always possible. What other plants do you have in there? If you have valisineria (sp?) go easy on the flourish excel as the plant will melt (dissolve). There is also another option for feeding plants depending on what they are and that is to use some fertilizer balls which push into the gravel at the base of the plants. They are really good for plants which take up food through the root system, however you do have to be careful when cleaning the tank not to disturb them as they can turn the water muddy looking (temporary). Brennos
I actually quite like it. is that real wood in the tank? Hide the heater. Yes, real wood, 2 lots from hff, one is about 3 months old, the other is new. Everything else is real, apart from the back ground. Hide the heater? suggestions? +1 for hiding the heater - that looks like a small tank with an oversized heater - is it ? Not particularly, It's the heater cover I guess. The tank is an AR620T, so not the smallest thing out. Hi, it looks very nice. What sized tank is it? I would also hide the heater but I know its not always possible. Yeah I was looking at those, I was planning on doing a cap full every 2-3 days. The guy at HFF recommended the balls, I might go get some next week. oO SKIPPY Oo
must have been an optical illusion - can you put the heater in vertically on the left ? or horizontally at the bottom behind the rocks ?
Brennos
must have been an optical illusion - can you put the heater in vertically on the left ? or horizontally at the bottom behind the rocks ? I did think vertically, behind the powerhead, but where it is, ensures even heat distribution, as the outlet for the filter flows directly over it. Function over form i guess.
