Dario are under 2.5cm max (my females are much smaller even) and badis are up to 4 to 5 cm max. Dario also lack the badis' dark spots at the base of the caudal fin and under the eye. Males are quite aggressive to each other and can harass the females so it is best if there is one male to several females.
