phoenix44
I just learned something interesting today, and want to see if its true; so need to see pics of your mature brown male (and possibly female) bristle noses. If you know they are a certain type of bn, please let me know what you think they are as well Thanks!

phoenix44
well aren't you the inquisitive one  its not those spots im looking for but the normal ones. or even lack of the normal spots that has me thinking.
firenzenz
I will try to get some shots for you. i have about a dozen adults 4-5m and 7-8f. They vary from almost black with small light dots through to tan with mottles. None were ever designated as anything specific. Plan is to breed the tan ones together. Interested to hear your theory
phoenix44
Fantastic, I was hoping you would play too  My theory is that I have an Ancistrus triradiatus. It does not look like a cirrhosus at all. having said that there are soooo many different types of bn's that it is completely possible that that just have not gone through the entire list of possibilities. the guy i have is about 3-4 years old, small for that age, but has nice bristles and a plain brown colour, like a bark. Not a single spot on him. I also had a mega huge one a while ago who was easily 18cm or more which I don't think is really normal for them. firenzenz
I have a big grandaddy too at about same size. Where did you get the BN you talking of. Unless its new stock i would suspect like mine they are just the result of mixed BN's and the chances of IDing them as specific is very small. Rather that it is just an individual that looks like something but thats not to say it isn't showing traits of its distant origin. My thoughts anyway

phoenix44
I got the pure brown bn from a friend who got him from somewhere in tauranga. no spots or any thing on that one. I must get a pic of him. The mega massive one is this one: - got him from wet pets in palmy. couldn't believe he was a bn when I saw him. __ and this is what a normal male bn looks like
