Just wondering what type of mesh you guys have used in your backgrounds to prevent the critters getting in behind? I have a few caves etc for water flow and wanted to put some kind of mesh or something to prevent fish getting in there and stuck..

I tried finding some kind of mesh too i ended up just cutting a piece of plastic and drilled lots of little holes and glued it to the back of the background where the hole comes out, works well good flow

i guess the key is not going to fine so that it blocks up all the time and not going to large so that fish can get thru . ive lost a few fish to "going behind the background" but right now its only my albino sen that goes behind it where my heater and inlets are in a few months he wont be able to fit but its good at the moment i can feed him ox heart with out worring about the africans getting to it

hmm im starting a new tank so figure most of the fish will be very small and the holes are quite large...

you definitly want to put something there if you want your fish to stay in the front especially if you don't have good access to behind the background to get them out if need be. Or you can just have it so they swim freely from in front and behind the background and they just come and go as they please. just as long as the fish doesn't spend all thier time behind it because that kind of defeats the purpose

agreed, i need to find something suitable...can you buy the mesh that they use in the fish nets?
