Mites in Mealworms

yes keep them dry

if they are the crawling type a paraffin or cooking oil around the top of the container can stop them getting in

they need a little bit of humidity to survive

taking adult beetles and starting a new colony will help to get rid of them

give the adults a blow off to remove any mites on them as they can be transfered too

Thanks so much everyone. Will sort them out today! Will try the dry bread and ventilation trick on the exisitng colony and also start a new one. Soloman5 they look like tiny cream/white specs. At first I thought it was dust from the bran then I looked closely and saw that they are moving. Makes me itchy just thinking about it :o

Pro Tip: Microwave your wheatgerm and let it cool down before you use it. Don't keep anything you buy from Bio Supplies anywhere near your own stock. Their waxworms gave me mites twice before i realized that's where they were coming from.
