Lush
wow those tropheus are real pretty. might have to get me some of those. How big do they get?
smidey
wow those tropheus are real pretty. might have to get me some of those. How big do they get? up to 5 inches. these guys are con specific aggressive which means they are really aggro to their own kinda. i have got away with a group of 9 but it's not recommended to have less than twelve. Fortunately i ended up with 4 males & 5 females so that may be the reason for siccess. If you get 6 you may quickly have 1 left as the dominant fish will kill off all the rest. You need to spread the aggression. Then there's the food, they bloat very easily apparently, i haven't had any of mine bloat but i do know that others have. They are soooo pretty tho, hmmm maybe i could get some one day, i guess it trial and error like with most things. What do you feed them? smidey
i feed a range of food, jbl novorift sinking sticks, jbl novovert flake, sera granugreen, shelled peas, sushi wrap & occasionally blood worms.

If they are nasty to own kind would one on its own with other types go ok or would it just aim its aggro at everything else ? And/or do they need to be in groups ? smidey
hmm.. tropheus ay.. (maybe in the future then, I like the ones you have - possibly my favourite kind). they have grown so much! yeah they have grown. I love all tropheus especially these (duboisi), cherry spots & moliro. If i could i would spend $1K on getting all of them but sadly not a priority with a young family. I had a female hold for the first time a few weeks ago so maybe that may generate some income to buy more.
Navarre
Good luck with Troph's They certanly are great fish and breeding them is a big buzz. Pity we have such few strains here when you see options overseas. LOL I remember when I breed them a few years ago. 40 fish at 60 each was a lot of money especially when I came back from a week at sea and flat mate had bloated the whole tank. LOL little bloaters that they are Hope she holds for you smidey How are other fish going?
smidey
she didn't hold for long but thats quite normal for "first time mums" IME. the others, i aaume you mean the peacocks it got from you when down there? sadly a larger red zeb got into the container they were in & ate the lot
livingart
nice i think a tropheus tank may be in the plans
smidey
i would buy more but damn they are expensive, around $30 per juvie at about an inch long is the current rate & buying at least 12 is a must if you want them to survive.
