phoenixb
Hi all Just out of interest - what are you feeding your cichlids? - and is there a particular place to get it? I have seen some people selling stuff online, and am wondering if anyone has tried them. I have also heard that there are some cheaper places to buy food? I am currenlty using a cichlid sinking pellet - but am wondering if I should diversify as my fish do not seem to be growing particularly quickly. Thanks
Deno
what are these cichlids of yours? , you want to be feeding them more than just 1 type of sinking pellet. I'm guessing african cichlids? I feed all sorts from different pellets and flake to shrimp, spirulina. A lot of people make a blend of frozen veges and shrimp, I feed this to all my fish every morning and they love the stuff. I think variety is good, who would want to eat the same thing every meal? How old are your fish, how long have you had them and how much are you feeding them? Sharkie
i feed mine bloodworm/trout pellets/white worm/corgette/koi floating pellets/and they also get stuck into the algae disks that i put in for the plec's and cory's
firenzenz
I feed mine a wide range of foods although if we are talking african I omit bloodworm, tubifex etc. otherwise- Viking cichlid X, and viking Discus granules( awesome high protein sinking food for fry) JBL Gala, JBL cichlid sticks, spiriluna wafers, shrimp pellets, Krill, nutrafin max flake. Normally mortar and pestle much of this together into container. Every now and then i make a soup with these and frozen prawns and freeze on a tray to make frozen wafers. Not recommended unless doing frequent water changes. I however must survive on toast and 2 min noodles
phoenixb
Thanks to those people who have offered advice. I have a variety of african cichlids - electric yellows, demasoni, kenyi, peacocks, fryeri, kandango, and blue dolphins I will try the frozen vege idea - I have not done that. Thanks heaps - and I look forward to anyone else contributing ideas. My local fish man is not super knowledgable about cichlids so it is great to get some expert views. phoenix44
I just use spirulina flakes, nutrafin cichlid sticks (spirulina again) hikari arowana pellets, and cichlid gold.
MarkLB
I feed mine NLS, Viking X and Viking Total. I got my food from Royal Aquatics which is no more so when I run out I'll be making my own using a shrimp and vege mix.
Shmoo
Just wondering...... with the courgette is it cooked or raw? If raw it floats and seems quite hard for them to get into it. Thanks
