Cricketman
as tim "the toolman" tailor says: MORE POWER! i had the same prob, and the answer for me was to add a powerhead to stir up everything so that the filter could suck it up! (i se an overflow, but the point sticks) HTH
darkfur
my rainwater has pine pollen in it at the moment, you can get rid of it by using a flocculant - look for a product called water clarifier or similar that says it works by sticking the particles together. It makes the particles clump so they don't go right through the filter. The pollen was going right through my filters before I flocculated it
phoenix44
just shove some fine filter wool in your filter, or make a pre filter (use the search function on here for more info) and you should be good to go.
darkfur
it was going right through a big wodge of fine filter wool, that pollen is sneaky stuff!

BikBok
every morning i have a sheet of pollen over my car - yes it does get everywhere and yes I do suffer from hayfever.. it's a terrible time!
Caryl
Everything is yellow here. Between the pine and the wattle we have patients coming in for hay fever injections and antihistamine pills  Although it is all over the ponds and daphnia containers, I don't have it in my aquarium (thanks to the lid)
BikBok
is wattle particularly bad for hayfever causing pollen? becuase I live in WATTLE downs and am surrounded by wattle trees and pine trees!

Caryl
Wattle and pine are both well known triggers for allergies :-?
JazzyJeff
Back to the dust particles - I had a similar prob and tried the stuff that binds the particles together - It worked a little but I found that JBL SymecMirco filter media "polished" my water the best! It is material like stuff that you cut to fit whatever size filter you have ... works great!
