LYNDYLOO
Hubby, made mine out of 18mm MDF, we had 2 pieces of the 18mm MDF glued together at the sides, Front and Back of the Stand, then had it Lacquered in Black Gloss, looked fantastic when it was finished. Dixon1990
Would i NEED the wooden pieces at the end lik on this one? http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa41/AaronDixon1990/part3-Final.jpg
LYNDYLOO
Personally I would remove the 2 pieces of wood you have on each end Then at a later date, you could screw MDF directly onto your the stand's Back and sides, you could even put cupboards on the front with shelves mounted on the inside. I had already planned on putting cupboards and shelves in Hmm i was gonna put a thin cover sheet over the end anyway. I might aswell just put thick mdf on

kiwipete
Yup, the second one, don't use treated timber, could leach smells etc into tank?

I might aswell just put thick mdf on put a back on as well it will increase the stability of the stand
LYNDYLOO
The other option would be to head to a Kitchen Manufactuer, see if they have any off cuts of Melteca. Then you wont have to paint it either Would just need the little bungs that cover the head of the screws.
