tinytawnykitten
I will have a full day or two in Christchurch next week with my son who is almost 5. We will have a rental car. Any suggestions of what stuff I should take him to see? Is the aquarium any good? Or the antarctic centre? I vaguely remember a safari park where you drove amongst the animals but I am guessing in this day and age that driving amongst african animals is no longer a happening thing. Bearing in mind also that I am 28 weeks pregnant and have been told to take things very easy. Also are there any really nice spots to drive to for a yummy mummy like myself (haha not really) with nice cafes, vineyards maybe?
supasi
Children , Funstuff. No way, never. Children should never be allowed to have fun. LOL Jokes I went to ChCh as a child and all I remember is being made to walk around everywher. I was tired and bored.Ive never been back since, so unfortunatley I dont have good memories of CHCH. One day I going to go back down there as an adult and actually do stuff I enjoy. Sorry , not very helpful am I?

Do Air NZ not let you take fish as carry on luggage??
VinsonMassif
I have flown AirNZ and carried fish on as hand luggage 9 times with no hassles. Just don't tell anyone and make sure they are in sealed bags with no chance of leaking. The xray customs people don't even ask. No problems. Even if you put the bags in a poly box and seal it with that wide sellotape. Oh and you MUST go see the Southern Encounter Aquariums in Cathedral Square in the city. They do feeding of the 80,000L ocean tank at 3pm. They have a pair of mad Kiwi in the house too.

Caryl
Orana Park, Willowbank Wildlife Centre and Redwood Aquatics are all near each other The aquarium place is in the Square Hagley Park has a children's play area. You could sit while he exercised (and is free) a ride up the gondola the museum has some good bits like the Victorian street (and is free)
