what a load of rubbish

THis is not about my tanks. never has been.

D1990 and Living art. you both are wrong :o

The correct answer is 18. It always has been :-?

Shall we all agree to drop it then ? I misunderstood what Barrie was saying apparently - thats all. I have stated I agree with him about people making ill-informed comments about killis - all I got wrong was that I thought he meant the three year thing to be about ALL fish because the comment I made was about ALL fish. Please guys, this is crazy.

And livingart / Dixon1990 - what is the point of adding your cheap jibes ? You complain about people turning posts into arguments and there you both are smugly adding fuel to the fire too  shame on you both because you are just making things worse. Perhaps you know how to pull my strings and delight in antagonising me ? Good on ya both.

I dont even know what hes counting :o

Or why, even ! But anyway, lets all allow this to get back to killies -

Barrie - is there any mileage in the killi club offering to give info sheets to retailers so that their fish buyers can be better informed ? Im thinking that in a country as small as NZ there can't be a huge number of LFS ? Maybe the info sheet could include details about membership to the killifish association and details of breeding ? just a thought on how to improve people's knowledge.

i would suggest l.a and dixon were trying to lighten the mood of the thread, and don't need to be snarked at for it.

this thread is exactly the sort of silly misunderstanding and accompianing nastiness that puts me off other forums, lets play nicely :)

are there any other lfs that sell killies though? I was amazed to see them at bird barn, never seen them anywhere else.

but then i don't get to visit many fish shops.

would be nice to see them around more often, i never would have got into them if i hadn't stumbled across them online, and they're my favourite fishies now.

I dont think many fish shops are interested in selling them.

LFS want fish that sell quickly for fast turnaround. Barrie was the one behind the killi tank at Bird Barn from my understanding. They used to only have golden wonders every now and then. Maybe there needs to be more Barrie's out there pushing their LFS's to stock them and teach them how to look after them properly to keep them in tiptop condition. :hail::hail:

they are beautiful, thats for sure. i think i have seen them at most of the lfs here in christchurch on and off - some places more than others. its surprising really because the north island (unsurprisingly) seem to get a fair number of unusuals compared to down here, though at least one of the lfs's here tries hard to have a nice variety.

i gave a trio to our lfs to try and encourage them to stock them, they looked at me sideways in disbelief when i told them what they were and sold them as guppies lol. They were about 8cm f.scheelis, obviously not guppies but someone picked all three out of the guppy tank the next day so either they knew what they were or just loved them.

There are four shops down here that have sold killies in the past. I have sold killies to some of the shops and can understand Barries frustration with misinformation. There is a shop which sells them and breeds them at the moment, although I don't think there are any in the shop at present. The same sort of ignorance applies to most shops with plants and other specialist fish like africans so no doubt people with a keen interest in these will get as frustrated as Barrie. Unfortunately there are a lot of fishkeepers out there prepared to give advice when they realy don't know a lot about the subject and also a lot of shops only interested in making money. May the god of killies go with you.
