Romeo
I've heard good things about the 7+13 JBL plant balls. They're especially good for root feeders like Crypts and Sagittaria. I bought some Dwarf Sagittaria off a guy on here, his entire tank was covered in a thick mat of lush Sagittari thanks to the fert balls (or so he said, he wasn't exactly going to tell me all of his secrets). phoenix44
you didn't get some off me did you romeo? those JBL balls are absolutely fantastic. they provide the correct nutrient for root feeders, and the plant growth is remarkable if they are used correctly. use in conjunction with the correct lighting and CO2 and its a sure shot recipe for great plant growth. Adrienne
I'd also recommend the jbl plant balls - just be careful when vacuuming as you can suck up the released nutrients which may cloud the water. IMO well worth the risk though. I use them on my swords.

wagonman
With these jbl balls do you have to plant them right by the roots, i have sum plants already planted in pots so does that mean i have to replant them with the ball by the roots. Yes, the JBL ball needs to go near the roots - but usually you can just shove them into the substrate. There's no need to pull the plant up and replant it. Cricketman
i just wish that they came in smaller sizes so that i could put small amounts in at a time without being worried about over-ferting my small plants
whetu
i just wish that they came in smaller sizes so that i could put small amounts in at a time without being worried about over-ferting my small plants It's not hard to break them either in half (along the seam) or into smaller pieces - then just put in as much as you need for that plant. I can break them up pretty easily - but then I do have super-human strength!
