cichlid7
should be fine as long as yo dont want to see the fish lol
suphew
Yeah I've done it, just make sure you don't have the heater resting against the plastic, I worried that it would melt it.
bulldogod
Yeah, Thats what I was worried about too. I guess if heater has those sucker things on them then they wont be right up on the plastic, should be far enough away from it aye.
Aquatopia
you could always buy a plastic heater guard
smidey
you could always buy a plastic heater guard excuse the pun  taking this thought a step further, if the heater guard is plastic do you need one to protect plastic?
phoenix44
the heater guards are made of a more malleable plastic.. that is if i can call it "malleable"
smidey
the heater guards are made of a more malleable plastic.. that is if i can call it "malleable" you sure or just assuming? buy a smaller cheaper one & try it if you can't get a guard, might be worth it in the end. phoenix44
ha ha im sure  they were made to bend to a certain extent - so even when they are not under water and heated, they bend more than your average warehouse bin would if it were made to the same shape. Aquatopia
I use them (if you are meaning the big white-ish ones wif the black handles and lids?) kept fish in them for months, good quarinteen tanks, lol! :-) I have often thought that - and they would make good grow out tanks too probably ? lmsmith
I used a 100L bin as a sump for a few months. It worked well, and after the suckers lost their suck, the heaters were just lying on the bottom. It didn't melt, but I wouldn't recommend doing it just in case. smidey
you could double box them, they stack inside each other don't they?
lmsmith
Also, melting/heated plastic might release toxins or something nasty. Best to do what you can to prevent it.
jim r
Keep it out of sunlight otherwise it will turn brittle.
