i need to move some of the reptiles inside for winter and have run out of indoor enclosures

so need to build something

went to ITM building supplies and got a 20mm Chipboard sheet and 15mm mdf coversheet both 2440 x 1220mm

$5.00 each

cut base and back board out of 20mm. base 800mm x 2000mm

piece of 50mm x 50mm along back for strength on long edge

found a spare glass shelf so cut 15mm for front with cutout for window, child height

reppen1.jpg

liquid nails and stainless screws for fixing

reppen3.jpg

2 ends from 15mm

cut panels outside and assembled inside

found an aluminium security door for the lid but may go for glass, better viewing

next is sanding then polyurethane, migh wait until tomorrow as i don't think that will go down well in the fishroom :o

the peice of glass for the front is toughened

i do have some 1m x 1m sheets of safety glass for the lid as well

they were $20 each left over bacony panels bought on the auction site

thought of perspex as well but would scratch up too quickly

i like using other peoples left overs it is cheaper

lunch time finish would be good, but polyurethane drying between coats, then artificial rockwall, astroturf, heatpads, lights, wiring and the rest of the animals to look after

maybe sunday night if i'm locky :D
