lmsmith
I'd like some ideas on how to set up my african tank. The bricks I was using killed my fish, so I need some more ideas.
Aquatopia
thats sad news - why did they have that effect ?
lmsmith
They leeched something and raised the pH to something unmeasurable. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=38083

MarkLB
Yep, it is I think it helps keep a stable pH too, 7.8 the last time I tested it.

Glad the dems pulled through on the whole.

lmsmith
Smidey, how thick are those pieces of slate?
smidey
Its not slate its paradise stone from a quarry up here, the thinner stuff is about 40mm the bigger chunks are about 120mm square, if that make any sense?
aqua j
These aren't the best pics, but might be useful. I've since changed this one to sand and added a background. Quick, easy caves for the babies and only cost a few $. Was playing around with the camera.... shows the rocks well at least. Added a plain background to this one as well. aqua j
These are some of my favourite tanks off the net. (http://www.cichlid-forum.com/phpBB/view ... p?t=184519) Might need a slightly larger house before I can have one of these though.... elusive_fish
Here is how my tank looks at the moment. I went for plenty of caves, but I sure do like the look of the first one aquatopia posted. Maybe my africans dont need quite so much rock space...
