sandysme
does any one know, please say how long your ones are.
phoenix44
most of those hoses will attach onto your normal garden hose/pipe, and then will become as long as your hose is. worst case scenario, you can attach the plastic siphon bit to your hose directly and silicone it there. sandysme
I mean the plastic syphon bit not the hose..
Mel
Our longest one is about 60cm brought it years ago at wetpets - I'm not sure if you can get longer ones.
phoenix44
yeah 2ft long sounds about right. may even get one that's a bit bigger - but for some reason, they are really expensive.
sandysme
I did see one smaller than what I need for $36, couldnt believe it, its plastic not gold..
Caryl
Remember the longer the hose the less the suck. Too long and it wil not be able to lift the muck.
mj
the standard 30cm should be fine .. ya always gotta get ya hands wet when maintaining the tank (IMO) unless you cleaning a swimming pool lol
ryanjury
lol but Sandy's tank is very deep I can see why she would be looking for a longer one, I used to have a 80cm cube tank that I had to buy a deeper one for because even on a chair my arms weren't long enough to reach the back of the tank with a small one.. Sandy I will have a look see if I have a spare long one in all my boxes of "treasure" (also know to my wife as junk) and let you know Otherwise just keep an eye on trademe its the type of thing that gets sold on there for $1 occasionally.. oeminx
I think you can get 40mm clear pvc in 4m lenghts then make a diy one
mogget
Hey Sandy... I use a cleaner that is 60cm long. It is the only thing that can reach the lower back areas of my 60cm wide bt 70cm high tank! I guess it can be found in most LFS's, but as I remember, I kinda balked at the price! Hope this is helpful.
phoenix44
I think you can get 40mm clear pvc in 4m lenghts then make a diy one +1 It shouldn't be too hard, Im sure ive seen pvc pipes for sale in hardware stores, all you need is the right diameter, or slightly smaller and then you can use the end bit from your existing siphon, and attach it onto the new pipe. worst case scenario you're looking at something that is not see through. and it probably will be cheaper... I think.
Caryl
I have 2 siphons. One is 53cm plus 107cm of hose so a total reach of 160cm. The other siphon is 27cm with the same length hose so a total of 134cm.

Dixon1990
I think you can get 40mm clear pvc in 4m lenghts then make a diy one Why does it need to be clear? IT would be alot cheaper in white.

It doesn't and you are right it would be cheaper in white, however it can be useful to know what you are sucking up.
ryanjury
That's cool, I am glad you got one Yeah I would say clear is almost a necessity, especially if you have small fish or sand in the tank and are siphoning out a window or down the sink, it pays to know when your sucking your sand or fish up... wellmax
Hi, what you could try is tape a broom handle to what ever size you have and you then can reach to any depth you require. Regards
