  1. I have some very large sword plants in my 300 ltr aquarium. 750mm high. If I where to cut then down to 100mm off the ground would they sprout again or would they die off and rot. The reason I wish to do this is they are becoming tall and the leaves block out the light. Kind Regards
  2. AQUA ONE 2700 Value for money these filters would be one of the greatest filters I have used. At the moment I'm running one of these on a 300 litre tank with excellent results. Grab 2 for the price of one FX5. :bounce:
  3. I have found the most effective method of attaching a Co2 tube to a DIY Kit is to use a air tube connector. Drill a hole in the bottle cap a fraction smaller than the connector, screw the connecter into the cap and then seal using a Hot Glue Gun. Kind Regards
  4. I have just purchased an Aqua One Nautilus Canister Filter CF2700. My problem is I cannot get rid of the air in the system. I have installed the the water sucker pipe to the "IN" side of the filter and the spray bar to the "OUT" side of the filter. Does one actually hold down the primer button to release air?? or is this only used to fill the pipe with water. Before I began I did fill the filter with water. Your help would be most appreciated. Kind Regards John Mc
  5. Hi Everyone, Is Vaseline ok as an O Ring lube for external filters? I have heard of people using Peanut Oil and other vegetable oils. Can someone advise? Kind Regards John Mc
  6. Hi everyone, I have purchased the above filter for my UFO 880 tank. This tank is a corner tank and has an inbuilt trickle filter. Has anyone converted one of these to fit an external filter. My worry is I don't really want to cut to many holes in the existing lid. Has anyone got any ideas? Kind Regards

  8. Hi all, can anyone advise me about the following? (1) 300 litre tank filtered with a filter that has a turn-over rate of 2,000 liters an hour. (2) 300 litre tank filtered with two 1,000 litre an hour filters. Which one of the above examples would be the most efficient?? Or would they be of equal rating? Kind Regards
  9. Hi every one, :bounce: :bounce: Can any one tell me why it is a rare site to see a bubble stone used in a professional display tank? The reason they where introduced was to acheive better water circulation?? am I correct here? Or do they oxygenate the water to a level that allows algae to grow?? Kind Regards, John Mc

  14. Hi, I have been using now for a number of years fruit salad gravel which is the typical stuff used in the average aquarium. My main plant life are Swords in my 300 litre tank. If I was to change to a sand would not this lead to scratches on the tank glass especially when you clean at ground level. Especially if you where to accidentally touch the sand with your cleaning pad. Using larger gravel this does not become a problem. Is there a secret here I've missed. Kind Regards John Mc
  15. Can anyone advise me if the standard trickle filter that comes with the 880 Aqua One Tank is more than sufficient for it's needs or should I be looking at Aqua One 2400 external filter?? The Aqua One 880 tank holds 300 litres. Kind Regards John Mc

  17. Looking at your photo I would say without doubt that the system uses syphoning to make water changes. Turn on your water source to fill and then open or remove your hose from the inlet and let drain. Regards

  22. I have a Aquaone 880 corner tank, 300 ltr. My early morning setting before the lights come on is set to about 24.5 C. My lights are on from 11.00am to 9.00pm daily a period of 10 hours. Over this time my water temp will rise 4 degrees to around 28 degrees. In the hot summer months the water temperature can rise to 30 degrees plus. How do other fish keepers cope with the fluctuation in temperature? or is this not a problem?. Kind Regards Wellmax

  25. My 300 litre tank has been in action now for the past eighteen months. Water test show every thing is within its limits. Every thing is thriving but I have black mould spots appearing on my sword plant leaves. These spots eventually eat through the leaves and will eventually leave a hole. Has anyone any suggestions? to remove this problem. Would peroxide or janola used as a rinse solve this problem. Kind Regards John Mc
