phoenix44 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Share Posted December 21, 2008 Hi all, Ive got some dwarf val that has decided to no longer be "dwarf". the leaves are about 30 - 40 cm long! and there are heaps of white flowers everywhere. alanmin4304 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Share Posted December 21, 2008 Do the flowers have a white flower on the end of a single stem or do they have a single stem that branches into a number of flowers? If it is the latter it will be Sagittaria subulata which can grow tall in the right conditions, If it is the single flower it will be Valisneria which to my knowledge has no dwarf form. I have a dwarf sagittaria called Sagittaria microfolia which actually stays dwarf but when I have offered it on this site no one wanted it. (none available at the moment). phoenix44 Posted December 21, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 21, 2008 I was hoping you would reply there is a single stem that has a node that branches into typically 3 or 4 substems which have flowers at the end of them. the flower stalks can get very long, there are a few of them that are in excess of 2 feet long! phoenix44 Posted December 21, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 21, 2008 some are makes and some are females. lol... what can i do once i know what they are. i even tried collecting the pollen off the males and depositing it on the females. but i don't see the point cause the plant multiplies so fast! PS- it is a horrible time to put plants in the post. I only just received a parcel with an unidentifiable mush of plant matter that once used to be indian fern and water sprite.
