Neon
Hi, I recently bought this second hand 4 foot tank, but have noticed that one of the bottom corners has some badly chipped glass. Since it's on the bottom of the tank, I'm wondering would it be too risky to use the tank? I'm not really keen on the chance of having 200L of water on the carpet... Here's a picture of the damaged corner:
chilli
iv used tanks like that and been okay with some but others did get a slow crack forming,so better safe than sorry and maybe take the glass off and reseal a new one on
Neon
Thanks. I'm mostly worried about the silicone giving way since it's in contact with less glass, which I assume creates a weak point. I'm not sure if I'm game enough to replace the whole bottom panel of the tank. Damn, I was really looking forward to setting it up
Dixon1990
Or atleast sand the chip down so theres no tiny crevasses that can form into a crack
livingart
how deep is the tank?
TM
sand the edges like dixon said. If you do it so there are no nasty edges and all is smooth then it will be fine.
Neon
the tank is 45cm tall so not that big. so should I pull off the chips that are being held there by silicone at the moment? Is normal sand paper okay to use?
