karynjoy
Hi can some one please help me with what the bubbler things are called that you can put onto your filter outlet pipe. (They draw air in with the flow of water with a small peice of tubing.)

karynjoy
Thanks but no its a little plastic fitting that fits on the end of the pipe with another pipe that goes out of the tank and draws air in like a venturi effect with the flow of the water. Where you would normally have a spray bar.
MarkLB
draws air in like a venturi effect with the flow of the water. I think it's called a venturi tube.
karynjoy
sheesh that figures LOL Do you know if it's possible to get them separately or do they come with the filters.
MarkLB
Do you know if it's possible to get them separately or do they come with the filters. If it's part of the filters original components then you should be able to order a replacement from an LFS.
karynjoy
No it's not. I thought it was just something that you could put on the end of any pipe with water flow. (i put a WTB add up-do think i should remove it again?
lmsmith
Karynjoy, I put a thing up in your T&E post too - I don't think it'd pull enough air to make much of a difference, you'd probably be better getting an airpump. Then you can make a pretty bubblewall
karynjoy
Hmm, Thanks, i did try an air pump but they were so loud with the aucoustics in this house that they drowned out the TV and the hubby started to get a little bit tetchy. I thought that this might have been a solution. Maybe not? Someone recommended eheim pumps as being quiet, I'm a bit worried that i might get one and it might still be to noisy.. what to do!!??!! lmsmith
I run 3 big eheim ones in my lounge, and they're way quieter than the filters. They're a bit more expensive, but IMO, totally worth it because they're so quiet.
karynjoy
Oh ok then maybe I'll keep my eyes open for one of those on TM then, Thanks for that
Deno
go with the venturi idea, they work brilliantly, you must be able to get one from somewhere, I reckon with a bit of ingenuity and scrap pipe it wouldn't be too hard to make one
Ira
What do you need them for? Air pumps and stones are really only useful if you don't have any kind of filter disturbing the surface. If you do they're purely aesthetic. Sounds like you have a pump already, so if you just point it at the surface it will airate the water heaps. markoshark
Flatmate has an ehiem with a venturi and the noise of the bubbles can be frustrating...
Deno
Use a regulator, then you can turn it down to make it quieter. Quiter than an airpump banging away in your lounge.
