phoenix44 Posted October 25, 2008 Report Share Posted October 25, 2008 you'll need an antibiotic for about 7 - 10 days... furan or terramcin, amoxocyllin, oxytetracycline..... any thing that is broad spectrum... isolation is the best way to treat... also recommend copious amounts of stress coat - i find its amazing stuff - can put it on the eye directly as well as in the water. Adrienne Posted October 26, 2008 Report Share Posted October 26, 2008 Hi IME only one eye affected is normally because its been in a fight or banged into something. two eyes and its more likely bacterial. I have found that if you put the fish into clean water and isolate it then it normally heals by itself in a couple of days (thats if only one eye is affected). One eye might be the result of an injury but the popeye is caused by a bacterial infection producing gas behind the eye and pushing it out.
