Octaganal Tanks

Hi There

I was wondering if these sorts of tanks are suitable for tropical fish?

Also how can I work out how many litres of water they hold?

I am looking at using it for a community tank, Gouramis, angels, rams, neons, rainbow shark and whatever else suits. Maybe a simese fighter or 2.

:D

They are suiable for tropical fish but as the surface area they cant hold many fish. To work out the surface area divide the octogan into triangles and work from there. To work out the area of a triangle it is half base of the triangle multiplyed by the height. Then multiply this by 8 (because of the 8 sides) then multiply again by the height of the water.

I don't think they're suitable for fish if they're over an arms length deep. They're a massive pain in the ass to do anything with. I've got one that's about 4 feet deep. Hate it.

same here! pain in the butt to do anything with unless u do a water change.... in saying that tho they look great with big tall plants (i have few diff vals, cambomba and some java moss on the bottom)
