Hey dude

Theres lots of freshwater shrimp around. With the weather so bad at the moment the streams and river are a bit too full and fast. I have found them in the Hutt River in Upper Hutt as well as on the back of Silverstream Wier. Mine are surviving fine in my pond.

Where abouts in L/Hutt are you? Which stream are you looking in?

Even in the wild you will find them in warm water during the summer.

"during the summer" being the key words.

They aren't naturally found in tropical climates year round.

Short bursts maybe, warm during the day, cool at night maybe, but in the wild they also have the option to move to cooler water if they want, deeper pools, faster flowing etc.

In a tank they don't have the choice.

hi, i have been breeding these little guys for a while. I got my original stock from "the auction site" but alot of pet stores also have them from time to time. I have even sold some back to the pet stores in exchange for other items.

The following website really helped me when starting out breeding.

Also remember that when adding salt to get them to breed use aquriam salt and not iodised table salt!
