  1. hi, i have been breeding these little guys for a while. I got my original stock from "the auction site" but alot of pet stores also have them from time to time. I have even sold some back to the pet stores in exchange for other items. The following website really helped me when starting out breeding. http://www.shrimp.webplatez.com Also remember that when adding salt to get them to breed use aquriam salt and not iodised table salt!
  2. i have heard of this done without hormones. it was in papakura where an asian kid i went to school with breed cloan loaches. he did so using freshwater shrimp as live food and they seem to produce some kind of frenzee with the loaches which would refuse other food (very unlike a cloanloach) until they had breed a week later. he succesfully managed this many times. here is an article about fresh water shrimp and how to catch them from most stream's / rivers. www.webplatez.com/shrimp
  3. just a chlorine till they all die (wont be much from the pool shop) then wait about a month for it to dissipate (can tell when this happens when algae grows back) then add new fish. Note this will kill all other fish and snails in pond too.
  4. why not just drain the pond, let it dry up and then refill it? otherwise what type of fish does he want in there? If you put in a lot of commets they would soon take of the prolem for you. Also adult angel fish in the summer would do a nice job too.
  5. hey there is a eustry in anpier abundant in brackish water shrimp. Not the freshwater kuruo. You are aloowed to take these and they live in fresh water fine (have put some in my plant only tank) they eat all the algae (both single cell and hair) only downside is they will only breed in salt water. you can get them to in captivity but as you scoop out up to 20 a time with net at the local eustry it wasn't worht it in the end. if anyone wants any i might be able to go scoop some out and post them if you like. fish will eat these really fast.
  6. well i deffinately don't want this rubbish then. Thanks for all the info.
  7. anyone know where i can get some hornwort? someone told me this eaisly growen and helps hide baby fish.
