R32GOTMLK
hi im getting a 6foot tank made soon and was wondering about filtration what are the pros and cons of each different filter? just going to be fresh water tropical fish in there Cheers all
VinsonMassif
I prefer canisters as mine are super quiet. The AquaOne CF 1200, 2200, 2400 would probably be the cheaper end of the range of canisters. Compared with Eheim and Fluval.
Navarre
Sump Pros- increased volume, hides all the "extras". easy access (usually), increased airation of water, can add remove filtration at will Cons- drilling tank, noise, evaporation, plumbing, have to make it Canister Pros-plug"n"play cost big surface are quiet(er) Cons- cost, plumbing, cleaning, size vs flow(may need power heads as well) More I am sure but just a start. I use both but prefer sumps. You can come and have a look if you like Navarre

supasi
If your having the tank made, Id go sump. get the hloes drilled etc and designed to suit you. For a 6 foot setup a sump will have bigger filtration and you can hide ugly heaters etc
TM
Sump, easier to clean to.
