Freakyfish
Id say more then likely any mouthful U get could have been crossed Simple though If you want a display tank just let the fry get eaten and dont remove any of the fry Brad
Dixon1990
I thought they could only breen within Genus?
David R
No there are many inter-generic hybrids, like blood parrots for example.
Ant N
Tank one definatly, and some fry could survive ,even with all those adults.
Afrikan
I would just not keep any fry that are produced in the tanks... or part with any.
Dixon1990
aulonocara maleri Sunshine Peacock offspring would be alright wouldnt they?

David R
I'm sure there's plenty of people in christchurch with arowanas that need feeders... (evil elmo?)

firenzenz
aulonocara maleri Sunshine Peacock offspring would be alright wouldnt they? Once those mbunas get bigger I would say Maleri will be top far corner trying to go un-noticed trying to stay unbullied, breeding will be way down on the list for him. Dixon1990
What i meant is that if he did find some ry from them he wouldnt have to worry about them being hybrids.
firenzenz
And what i meant was that the maleri in all probability would have an awful existence with those tankmates. It is not an Utaka fish and would like the rocks as territory much as the mbunas, but unless the tank is large enough a full grown auratus male could well bully him to death or at least to frayed finned non-coloured shadow of his former self. If there were a female Aulonocara in there my bet is anything she held would be from a more dominant and territorial fish- ie everything else in the tank beside the Peacock. It's totally a personal preference I agree.
Mad Whip
The male crabro would always be the boss. The arartus are quite peaceful to all other species in my tank. I'm sure some would disagre, I think keeping four or more in a breeding group are good they tend to loose interest in the other fish types. I have very little agression in my tanks. si_sphinx
if they breed just feed them to you your fish and there won't be any worries
Ant N
I had a large single female Auratus that smashed all the mbuna and hap tankmates ,even the biggish breeding giraffes. Only the biggest blue dolphin could stand up to her. They can get nasty! (maybe just frustrated!)
