HelenMac
Hi I have been keeping fish for a while mainly Tetras. Just recently purchased some Blue and Gold Rams. I have decided to try to breed the Yellow Rams first and was wondering if anyone has some tips for me.
Caryl
Tip: You need at least one of each sex  Welcome to the fishroom. Sorry but I haven't bred rams. Hope someone else can be more helpful. Perhaps we will see you in the chat room sometime? Several of us are there most nights around 9 - 9.30pm onwards for an hour or two.
HelenMac
Thanks yep I've put a male and female in a separate tank. Was wondering if I need to take babies out or parents once the babies hatch or do the parents take care of their young.
Alan
Welcome Helen. The parents are normally good parents, both of whom share the duties. Their tank water should be soft and run thru a filter with peat in it. Temps 26 to 28. Condition them both well and supply some flat rocks which seem to be their choice of preference. Keep light down to a minimum, you don't need to see what they are doing, they'll know without too bright a conditions. Have extra shelter in the aquarium to negate a little, if one of the parents packs a hissy-fit. Goodluck Alan
Bilbo
Hi and Welcome Helen. I am also looking to breed them soon. Very best of luck as they are one of the most beautiful fresh water fish you can buy. This site might help. http://www.angelfire.com/tx/CichlidPimp/
