Rozski
Setting up an open top nano planted tank, and as you do, just thinking about what livestock I'd eventually have in it... But I think killies are ruled out if its open top? Am I right?

Barrie
no Not all killis jump The main ones that do think they have wings are Fundulopanchax Nigerianus P82s and Fundulopanchax Gardneri I have only ever lost the Gardneri and with almost 50 tanks and 23 specie, thats not too bad I think
Rozski
Gee thanks discusguru  Very helpful... In saying that, my female striatum was a leaper, and managed to get behind the moss wall in my tank a number of times (top of wall was just above waterline) and eventually became carpet jerky when she squeezed out one of the wee corner holes in my tank one night. So add striatum to your jumper list Good to hear some don't. Are your tanks open topped Barrie or just have large holes in the lids?
Barrie
all my tanks have lids but as plenty on here can testify, at any time only about 3/4 have their lids on Why dont you have floating plants on the surface?

Barrie
maybe mine are too fat to jump?
HelenMac
Doing a water change so lid was off went to get the water to tip in tank, came back to find the cat about to pounce on my blue garneri who had decided to take a flying leap. Picked him up put back in the tank floated sideways then righted himself swam to the top thought was a gonner but this morning swimming round eating seems fine  cat not happy stilling looking round the floor for his supper

Wok
As Alanmin2403 said. Mine don't jump anymore. Only ever lost 3-5 killies still have them next to my tanks though. disincentive to all others in the tanks.
