Guest
Nice fighters .What have you been feeding the fry? How big are they?
kiwiplymouth
They vary in size from 10-15mm. We started feeding them brine shrimp as soon as they were free swimming and thats all they have had.

Caper
Congrats, very nice indeed Is the only way to sex fighters is by their fins, meaning long fins males??? If so, do you have to wait till their fins start to get longer  than the females to know in order to separate them, shoot does that make sense   Hope you understand what I'm trying to ask Caper

kiwiplymouth
How many fry do you think you have? What size tank are they in? At a guess I recon that there are 150-200 fry. We are just starting to cull the small ones and are having to separate the odd male that is already show signs of aggression. they were all in a 30l tank but split them up into two tanks on Tuesday. I will post some more pics as they develop.

kiwiplymouth
WOW . I've only got about 100-120 for my first one. So what size tank are they in now 100 in one 30L tank and 100 in another 30l tank. I have got a 3 foot tank cycled and waiting for the females and another 3 foot tank full of jars that the odd stropy male is starting to go in to. Guest
You should keep all the males in the same tank. Apparently if you keep them all together and don't take any out (not even for a second) they can live together.

Guest
I heard it from Billaney. He said he had 150 males and 100 females together (I think it was him who posted it)
Adrienne
sometimes you can and sometimes you can't depends on the nature of the fish, I have had a tank with over 50 males in it and no trouble ever but the norm has been that when they get to about 9-10 weeks old the fighting begins. I'm talking a 4ft tank.
kiwiplymouth
A few pics now that they are starting to develope more colour. Question: Some fry seem to have no pigment on their body or fins. Do they normaly turn out yellow, silver or white?
Adrienne
Those ones have thrown to 'cambodian'. The males will eventually develop some pigmentation or sheen to their bodies, the females are less likely to. I have noticed that more and more of mine seem to be throwing that way which was always going to happen seeing that my 5th and 6th male fighters ever purchased were cambodians and I have retained that line.
