Nicolette
Hey all, Haven't been on the site for months due to computer death and renovations but am back online finally and in need of some advice. My mum who lives in Wainuiomata, Wellington has kindly gifted me her old tank setup. I live in Pukekohe. It is approx 1.4mt long and 70cm high and 60cm deep, comes with large stand, cover and pumps, lights etc. The measurements are only a guess right now until she goes out into the cold garage with a tape measure. lol So heres the question. Who can transport tanks and stand safely? Is there a trucking firm who specializes in tanks or something and any idea how much I should expect to pay for this? Thanks all. Silvia-15
just tied it onto a trailer (bp) ones
Nicolette
I cant drive down and pick it up with a trailer as I have a broken foot and am in a moon boot. Hence why I was looking at getting someone else to do it.
ryanjury
I moved my whole household Inc around 15 tanks from Auckland to bulls with nzvanlines had one tank get chipped but it was insured so no worries there.. I am unsure if they will take on smaller lots like 1 tank..
tinytawnykitten
I can measure up my car and see if it fits, and if so, I could possibly bring it up next Thursday for a bit of petrol money. Is Pukekohe in Auckland?
Nicolette
What a lovely offer but I am quite sure it would not fit in a car. The tank is around 1.4mtrs long and with stand, sits about 1.6mts high.
tinytawnykitten
Aha, I hadn't thought about a stand. I have a people-carrier, but yes you're right I don't think it would fit. Pooz.
David R
Mainfreight Precision, might not be cheap though...
Nicolette
the stand and the tank come apart obviously and yes we have a van..but its gonna cost over $300 in petrol to go down ourselves and moveit have just quoted around the $200 mark..so cheaper to do it that way. Nicolette
hey all... due to the re-laying of floors etc we have delayed the tank getting up here. Precision freight are shipping it up next friday. Woo hoo..very excited and a little nervous.. must get the panels on the walls finished before it arrives or I dont think I will ever finish our foyer. So I guess I will be on the hunt for new fish by the new year, once I have things up and stable like.

Nicolette
Not sure exactly. Mum brought it 7yrs ago and up until may of this year it has been in use, why? do I need to check something?
Stella
the silicone does have a lifespan, they usually say 10 years is not a worry. Personally with the distance it is being moved, I would fill it up in the garden and leave it overnight, just in case. Better a flood outside than in!
