Tsarmina
have noticed recently that one of my (well, they're actually bailey's) angels has been residing on the gravel in the plants. noticed that the other angel was picking on it so moved it to a quieter tank. it had difficulty swimming, slightly nose up, and when it got to the bottom, it fell over :-? has been having more and more trouble staying upright and swimming, though it keeps trying. does this sound like a swim bladder problem? thanks in advance
DutchKiwiCowboy2
That was the first theory that I thought of as I was reading your post. The only thing you can do is to give it rest and hope it will recover.
Tsarmina
i currently have it in a breeding net so it is closer to the surface. that way it doesn't miss out on food, though it looks like its not eating either. hopefully it will get better, as Bailey got 3 in sept as a 7th birthday present, and we have already lost one. Caper
If it's swim bladder, don't they have trouble going down? I thought swim bladder kept them at the top of the tank, or am I mixing it up with something else? Tsarmina, any signs of injury to him/her? How's the water parameters? Tsarmina
water is fine. was being picked on by the other angel, so moved it. no signs of external injury.
DutchKiwiCowboy2
With swimbladder problems they don't necessarily have to float. It can also affect the balance of a fish. Unfortunately without any other simptoms it is very hard to diagnose what else it could be.
Caryl
If water is fine I suspect internal injury from bullying by the other angel. See if it picks up on its own.
