March 24, 200818 yr comment_222621 Just about anywhere in the gulf is firing well at the moment. I'm having huge success with the softbaits 3-4 lb pannies would be the average size with a few bigger ones thrown in for good measure. We picked up 18 one week ago with around 3 hours fishing, 7 today although I spent most of the day teaching two others in the boat how to fish. How often do you get out smcoleman Report
March 24, 200818 yr Author comment_222644 not to often once a fortnight if im lucky ive never tryed softbaits yet Report

March 25, 200818 yr comment_222889 6kg calcutta 400 on an 6kg Albagraph rod... its light gear The snapper was 25lb and the next bait pulled a 44lb Hapuka. I tried to release the snapper but it was too far gone so off to the smoker for it the next photo is of a 32kg Hapuka. That Hapuka was the 2nd biggest as the other was caught by a first time Hapuka angler at 50kg and the third is of a marlin that was tag n released in the Eastern Bay of Plenty Report
